Chapter 10Bruce and Jo's Children
Bruce Cochrane Campbell entered Yonkers and the world in 1948. Subsequently, his parents moved to Long Island and his early education was at the schools in Bay Shore on the island. College followed with four years at Oneonta State College in Oneonta, N.Y. which is located just to the west of the Catskill Mountains and slightly north east of Binghamton. He earned his Bachelor's there and later took his master's at Albany State University.
While at Oneonta, he met and later married Marcia Dexter who was a Mount Kisco native. Her parents were Dorothy and Clayton Dexter. Marcia and Bruce were married in 1970 after college and graduation. They moved to Clifton Park, a village just north of Albany and just off the Northway. Both Marcia and Bruce were teachers in the public school system for all of their careers. Marcia initially was an elementary teacher in Saratoga, N.Y. from 12970 until 1974. After starting and raising their children, she returned to work in 1986 as nursery school director in Burnt Hills, not far from Clifton Park and was there until retirement in 2006.
Bruce was a middle school math teacher for all of his working years and he also retired in 2006. They live in Ballston Lake which is north of Albany and not far from Clifton Park. Like many central New Yorkers, they now spend winter and spring in Florida, near where Bruce's mother lives. Their family consists of four children, James (Jayme), Bradley, Jeffry and Dylan.
Bonnie Victoria Campbell was born in 1953. Like her brother, she attended school in Bay Shore and Yorktown Heights. She obtained her Bachelor's degree at The Kings College in Briarcliff Manor (Westchester County) and her Master's at St. Mary's College in Moraga, California. Bonnie met and Richard Tillotson during college and after graduation, they moved to San Francisco. They had a son, Jonathan who is a graduate of Flagler College in St Augustine, Florida. He now lives in Irving, California where he works for a CPA firm and studies for his CPA license.
Bonnie developed diabetes around the age of sixteen. She worked as an administrator for Cystic Fibrosis in northern California and later as a teacher in San Francisco. After a long bout with diabetes, she passed away in 2007.
